The Werewolves of Valtheris are fierce, ancient beings created by Lunara, the Moon Goddess, to act as protectors of the land and guardians of balance. Born from moonlight and primal energy, they embody strength, loyalty, and wild instinct. In their prime, they served as warriors of the gods, safeguarding Valtheris from dark forces. However, centuries of conflict, territorial disputes, and betrayal fractured their unity and drove many packs into hiding.

Werewolves are deeply hierarchical, living in packs led by Alphas who enforce order and protect their kind. Each pack adheres to its own customs, though they all recognize the authority of Thorian Thalric, the True Alpha and King of Werewolves. His bloodline is said to be directly blessed by Lunara herself, giving him unparalleled power over his kin and the natural world.

With the rise of tensions among the species, the werewolves find themselves increasingly isolated, relying on their King and the fragile peace maintained by the Tribunal. Thorian’s rule is absolute, but his burden grows heavier with each passing moon.

History of the Werewolves

In the earliest days of Valtheris, the werewolves were revered for their strength and devotion. They built great cities in the forests and mountains, living in harmony with nature and the other species. Lunara’s blessing made them nearly unstoppable, and for centuries they thrived as the dominant protectors of the realm.

However, this golden age came to an abrupt end during the Great Betrayal, when some werewolves, driven by ambition and lust for power, allied with dark forces. The Lunar War that followed shattered their unity and left deep scars on their kind. Packs that once stood together turned on each other, and many were driven to the brink of extinction.

Thorian Thalric rose to power in the aftermath of this chaos. A warrior of unmatched strength and a natural leader, he united the scattered packs under one banner, earning the title of King of Werewolves. Through his leadership, the werewolves regained their strength and rebuilt their society in secrecy.

Now, Thorian serves as both protector and enforcer, ensuring that the werewolves uphold their ancient oaths and remain hidden from those who would seek to destroy them.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• Enhanced Physical Abilities

  • Werewolves possess superhuman strength, speed, and agility. They are faster than most species and capable of great feats of physical endurance.
  • Their heightened senses—sight, smell, and hearing—make them excellent hunters and trackers.

• Regenerative Healing

  • Werewolves can heal from most wounds within minutes, except those inflicted by silver or dark magic.
  • Their regenerative abilities make them difficult to kill, but they are not invincible.

• Wolf Form

  • Every werewolf can shift between human and wolf form at will, though the full moon amplifies their strength and makes transformations almost instinctual.
  • In wolf form, their senses and strength are further enhanced.

• Pack Bonds

  • Werewolves share a mystical bond with their pack, allowing them to sense each other’s emotions and call for aid across great distances.
  • Alphas can channel power to their pack members, temporarily increasing their strength.

• Silver

  • Silver is lethal to werewolves. Even minor wounds caused by silver weapons are slow to heal, and prolonged exposure can be fatal.

• Loss of Control During Blood Moons

  • While the full moon strengthens them, the rare Blood Moon brings out their most primal instincts. Many lose control entirely, becoming feral and dangerous.

• Vulnerability to Dark Magic

  • Dark magic corrupts their bodies and minds, making them highly susceptible to curses and spells.

• Dependency on Pack Bonds

  • While their bond is a strength, being isolated from their pack for extended periods can weaken a werewolf both mentally and physically.

Special Abilities (limited to one per wolf)

Each werewolf is born with a single unique ability, passed down through bloodlines or granted by Lunara’s blessing. These abilities are rare and must be developed over time. Some examples include:

2. Shadowmelding – The power to blend into shadows and become nearly invisible.
3. Enhanced Regeneration – Faster healing than most werewolves, even from silver-inflicted wounds.
4. Dreamwalking – The ability to enter the dreams of others and influence their thoughts.
5. Beastform – Transforming into a larger, more powerful wolf form temporarily.
